Philip A. Kantor began his career in advertising. After law school, he entered private practice, concentrating in the fields of trademark and intellectual property law. He was then invited to join an experimental project at American Express Company involving interactive television and, in the course of this work, gained experience in contracts, advertising compliance, direct mail and licensing. During the past fifteen years, Mr. Kantor resumed private practice counseling a diverse array of commercial enterprises and individuals. Examples of clients among different industry groups include: J. Walter Thompson (advertising agency); Burger King (foodservice and marketing); Vita Frame (eyewear distribution); Holmes Protection (security systems); Magitronics (personal computers); and dozens of prominent artists, entertainers, producers, directors and sports figures such as B.B. King, Sean Cunningham, Louis Malle and Willie Shoemaker. Aside from trademarks and intellectual property, Mr. Kantor has represented his clients in proceedings before the Internal Revenue Service and local tax authorities, and in complex securities fraud and bankruptcy actions, including lead management of the first and second largest tax cases in the history of the United States (The Securities Groups and Arbitrage Management cases).
Mr. Kantor is active in the International Trademark Association, and has served on its Trade Practices Committee (Anti-counterfeiting and Parallel Imports Subcommittees) and Education Committee. Mr. Kantor is also an active member of the Clark County Bar Association, and is being published in the intellectual property issue of its Communique Magazine.
